Designer/Engineer

Hewes Marine is looking for an individual to fill a full-time position within the Engineering department as a Designer/Engineer.  Key areas of responsibility will be manufacturing support, change management, and documentation control.  This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Hewes Marine is the leader in the marketing, design and manufacture of aluminum fishing boats within the Pacific Northwest.  The factory is located in the beautiful Inland Northwest providing endless opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility within Engineering supporting the goals and objectives of manufacturing
  • Maintenance of engineering documentation, including drawings, assemblies, specifications, BOM’s, etc.
  • Sales support for customization of standard product offerings
  • Support of change management activities

Qualifications:

  • Desire 2-year associate degree or 4-year bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks preferred but other 3D design platforms will be considered
  • Experience with 2D CAD software preferred
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment, a strong mechanical aptitude – additional consideration given for individuals from the marine industry
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with both Manufacturing and Engineering personnel
  • Desire experience with product documentation, including part and assembly drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and process instructions
  • Strong math skills are a must
  • Self-motivated, creative thinker, deadline oriented, work well in a team environment, and be willing to work overtime on an as-needed basis

Compensation:

  • This position is a full-time, hourly position at Hewes Marine Company
  • Wage range is DOE

Welding/Fabrication

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking a welder with proven skills in metal fabrication that include Aluminum, MIG & TIG welding. This position is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacturing products from engineered drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Position Requirements:
Desire experience in aluminum welding
Proficient in assigned welding techniques
Interpretation of mechanical drawings and sketches, including weld symbols
Working knowledge of fixturing
Working knowledge of set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
Conventional and precision measuring instruments
Welding equipment maintenance
Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
Safety and Housekeeping
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

Minimum Education/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of an internal welding test

 

Compensation:

This position is a full-time, hourly position within Hewes Marine Company.
Work schedule Monday – Friday
Overtime and weekends on an as needed basis
Wage range D.O.E.
Excellent Benefits package including health, dental, vision, accrued paid, and profit sharing programs

Machine Operator I Position

Hewes Marine Company is seeking an experienced machine operator to work within our metal fabrication department. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisors.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work well in a team environment
  • Read and understand blue prints
  • Lift on a regular basis up to 40 lbs.
  • Attention to detail
  • High regard for safety
  • Must be self-motivated

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with press brake operation, plasma Cutting Machine, shear, punch press, all types of saws & metal fabrication
  • 2 years – manufacturing experience
  • 1-year minimum experience in press break operation

Compensation:

  • This position is a full-time, hourly position within Hewes Marine Company
  • Work schedule Monday – Friday
  • Overtime and weekends on an as needed basis
