Production Manager

Hewes Marine is looking for an individual to manage the day-to-day activities and personnel within the Production department.

Hewes Marine is the leader in the design and manufacturing of aluminum fishing boats within the Pacific Northwest.  The factory is located in the beautiful Inland Northwest and centrally located among some of the most scenic areas in the Northwest, providing endless opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production process, from creation of fabricated parts to final completion of boats
  • Maintain and manage production schedule
  • Foster an atmosphere of quality throughout all phases of production
  • Supervise production personnel
  • Participate as a member of the company leadership team with other supervisors and managers
  • Participate in departmental HR functions, including training, hiring, and disciplinary actions
  • Develop Standard Work for all production elements
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making

Education/Experience:

  • BS Degree in manufacturing related field or equivalent
  • 15+ years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 5 years at a supervisory/management level (Additional consideration given to individuals with boat-building experience)
  • Strong personnel management skills and ability to lead and organize large groups of individuals towards company goals
  • Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team of managers and supervisors
  • Experience and commitment to continuous improvement, reduction of waste (both material and labor), on-time delivery of goods, and strong commitment to consistency of quality
  • Experience with adherence to manufacturing and engineering documentation systems, including BOM’s, drawings, specifications, and MRP systems
  • Lead-by-example management philosophy, with emphasis placed on earned respect and employee training

Compensation:

  • This position is a full-time, salaried position within Hewes Marine Company
  • Work schedule Monday – Friday
  • Overtime and weekends on an as needed basis

Production Laborer

Hewes Marine has a great employment training opportunity! We are seeking a Production Laborer who will perform manual labor tasks and work within other production departments as needed.

Experienced Painter Position

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Painter. This position will support the paint department.  It is fast paced and requires someone that is production oriented.  This position is hourly and will report to the Production Supervisor’s team.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepping surfaces for painting, monitoring booth operations, and identifying flaws
  • Applying primer and finish coats using spray equipment
  • Touch-up paint flaws and damaged areas
  • Work well within a team environment
  • Read and follow instruction
  • Use a variety of tools
  • Lift & move parts or equipment
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Quality and production oriented
  • High regard for safety
  • Manage time well

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience spraying prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primer and finish coat
  • Technical auto body training desirable
  • Paint Experience in the marine and/or auto body industry

Welding/Fabrication

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking a welder with proven skills in metal fabrication that include Aluminum, MIG & TIG welding. This position is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacturing products from engineered drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Position Requirements:
Desire experience in aluminum welding
Proficient in assigned welding techniques
Interpretation of mechanical drawings and sketches, including weld symbols
Working knowledge of fixturing
Working knowledge of set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
Conventional and precision measuring instruments
Welding equipment maintenance
Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
Safety and Housekeeping
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

Minimum Education/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of an internal welding test

 

Compensation:

This position is a full-time, hourly position within Hewes Marine Company.

Machine Operator I Position

Hewes Marine Company is seeking an experienced machine operator to work within our metal fabrication department. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisors.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work well in a team environment
  • Read and understand blue prints
  • Lift on a regular basis up to 40 lbs.
  • Attention to detail
  • High regard for safety
  • Must be self-motivated

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with press brake operation, plasma Cutting Machine, shear, punch press, all types of saws & metal fabrication
  • 2 years – manufacturing experience
  • 1-year minimum experience in press break operation
