Welding Position

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking a welder with proven skills in metal fabrication that include Aluminum, MIG & TIG welding. This position is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacturing products from engineered drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Position Requirements:

  • Desire experience in aluminum welding
  • Proficient in assigned welding techniques
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings and sketches, including weld symbols
  • Working knowledge of fixturing
  • Working knowledge of set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
  • Conventional and precision measuring instruments
  • Welding equipment maintenance
  • Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
  • Safety and Housekeeping
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test

Class-A CDL Driver

D&B Transport, a trucking company located in scenic Colville, Washington, is seeking a full-time commercially licensed driver to ship boats for Hewes Marine Company, the maker of Hewescraft boats.  Key responsibilities of this position are the safe operation of trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds GVWR while delivering boats over intercity and interstate routes.

This driver’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Load, transport, deliver, and unload boats, motors, and trailers with safety as the highest priority.
  • Drive long distances within the Pacific Northwest US, and Central/Western Canada.
  • Serve as a brand advocate and customer service representative in interactions with clients and public.
  • Inspect vehicles and trailers before and after trips and log any defects or safety concerns.
  • Manage driving routes and delivery routines so they proceed efficiently and safely.
  • Complete ELD logs, vehicle inspection/maintenance reports, and other trip reports as required.
  • Comply with all DOT and company rules and regulations, including Covid-19 sanitation and meeting guidelines.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor.

 

The following education, experience, and skills are required to be considered for this Driver position:

  • High regard for safety
  • Washington State driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Class-A CDL
  • Current DOT medical endorsement
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • 2+ years of commercial driving experience
  • Ability to sit/drive for prolonged periods of time
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • ELD and other logbook experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Hand and pneumatic tool experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold
  • Some routes may require a US Passport or Enhanced Driver’s License (travel to/from Canada)

Maintenance Mechanic

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is looking for an individual to assist with the day-to-day activities for maintenance within the company.  Key areas of responsibility include repair and preventative maintenance for capital equipment, production tools, facilities, and offices.  This position reports directly to the lead or Facilities Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • Desire minimum of 5 years’ experience in general maintenance work.
  • Strong consideration for individuals with background in manufacturing, with experience servicing large manufacturing equipment, power tools, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Also seeking experience with facilities maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC equipment, etc.
  • Must have the ability to create and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills, be willing to work odd hours, weekend and holidays if needed to minimize impact to production and have exceptional commitment to safety.

Production Supervisor – Paint Department

Hewes Marine is looking for an individual to oversee the day-to-day activities and personnel within its Paint Department.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for functional operations for entire painting processing, including installation of foam

flotation, paint preparation, and painting for all boats

  • Responsible for team leadership functions, including hiring, training, mentoring, and discipline
  • Responsible for strict adherence to production schedule, including labor analysis and team

management to meet daily and weekly expectations

  • Responsible for quality assurance for department processes with commitment to “pass no defect

downstream” philosophy

  • Participate as a member of the company leadership team with other supervisors and managers
  • Develop Standard Work for all affected production operations
  • This position reports directly to the Production Manager

Education/Experience:

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 5 years at a supervisory level
  • Strongly desire a comprehensive background in the preparation and application of paints to
  • aluminum boats OR an equivalent combination of manufacturing and painting related experience
  • Strong personnel management skills and ability to lead a team of individuals towards common goals
  • Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team of managers and supervisors
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, reduction of waste (both material and labor), on-time
  • delivery of goods, and quality
  • Experience with adherence to manufacturing and engineering documentation systems, including
  • BOM’s, drawings, specifications, and MRP systems
